According to The Hollywood Reporter, IFC Films has just acquired the North American rights to Im-sang Soo's "erotic psychological thriller" The Housemaid, starring Jeon Do-yeon, who you may remember as the winner of the Cannes award for Best Actress in 2007 for Secret Sunshine. The Housemaid follows an innocent and educated woman who finds a job as a maid in the home of a rich family who is soon caught in a love triangle with the wealthy husband and his wife, who is pregnant with twins. It's a remake of a 1960's classic of the same name directed by Kim Ki-youn that was recently restored by none other than Martin Scorsese. Hopefully, someone will be releasing that at some point soon, too!
The film also stars Jung-jae Lee ("Typhoon", "Il Mare"), Yoon Yeo-jeong ("The President's Last Bang") and Woo Seo ("Paju") and is scheduled to hit the film festival circuit before being released by IFC either later this year or early next year.
It looks fantastic. Check out the trailer.
